As the latest Winter storm blew through the Philadelphia area, many trees toppled, causing severe damage to local homes. One homeowner, in Northeast Philadelphia, experienced the wrath of the storm first hand when a very large Hemlock cracked at the base and crashed down on their roof. They reached out to the Giroud Arborist On-Call after office hours for help with the emergency!
A large tree growing from the center of a backyard deck has created a serious problem for a homeowner in Northeast Philadelphia. The tree has grown too big for the available space. Buckled deck boards strangle the tree and cut into its trunk. With its circulation weakened, the tree’s health has declined and large branches have been dropping over the last few seasons. A once aesthetically beautiful focal point has become a safety hazard and must be removed.
Last week, a dangerously brittle dead Ash Tree needed to be removed from a property in Abington, PA. We have had a particularly brutal winter this year, so the client wanted the job done as soon as possible in order to avoid storm damage. Giroud Arborist Rob Nagy organized his crew and scheduled a 40 ton crane for this tricky removal. However, on the morning of the job, snow began to fall and blanketed the area yet again.

Giroud Tree & Lawn teamed up with Philadbundance for their annual food drive again this year. Philabundance is a proud member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks leading the fight against hunger in the United States.
Last year, Giroud's team collected 496 pounds of food, and they set a goal for at least 550 pounds this year.
Jeff and Matt Giroud delivered the food to Philabundance this morning, and we're happy to report that this year's total is 687 pounds!!
Giroud Tree & Lawn send a big thank you to everyone who donated. These contributions will feed so many people in our community!
